As a person who spends most of their time discovering new music on YouTube, Spotify, and many other sources, I stumble upon a good song almost every day. The last example for that is a song that I found a few days ago. The song is called “All I Want” and it’s performed by Kodaline, an Irish rock band that personally I hear for the first time. After listening to the song over 100 times, now I am a huge fan of theirs. Surprisingly, this song has two videos that are connected – Part 1 and Part 2. Before I share my thoughts on the song, here are the links for the two videos + a beautiful cover by Ellie Goulding:
Listening to this song gives me all kinds of feelings and takes me to many places. You know you never understand the meaning of a sad song if you haven’t experienced tough times. Though, I believe that there is a deeper meaning to this song. It’s about the little moments in life that we miss out most of the time. To find beauty and happiness in the worst of times can only be a bravery. In the first verse –
” All I want is nothing more
To hear you knocking at my door
‘Cause if I could see your face once more
I could die a happy man I’m sure “
Everything is as simple as it sounds. Sometimes you don’t to be rich or wanted by many people to feel happy and complete. All you need that one person who will believe in you, no matter how weak you may seem. A person who will fight the world right there by your side, and heal your wounds with a single smile. If you find this in your life, then you will surely “die a happy man”.
” But if you loved me
Why’d you leave me?
Take my body
Take my body
All I want is,
And all I need is
To find somebody.
I’ll find somebody like you. “
The chorus is the part where your eyes might get watery. There is one special person for every single one of us somewhere out there. Someone who makes us want to be a better person and elevates us, but sadly crosses our life just once. Like parallel lines that meet, just to be separated. After a loss like that you are never the same person you once were, but life goes on. Who knows, maybe one day you’ll find someone who will “fix you”. Behind those words can be found a different meaning too. They can be about someone very close to you who passed away.
” So you brought out the best of me,
A part of me I’ve never seen.
You took my soul and wiped it clean.
Our love was made for movie screens. “
Feeling depressed? Don’t be. Maybe the only thing left in the end are the memories, but you’ll always save the feeling somewhere deep down in your soul. In the end, you not only found yourself, you also saw the beauty of life. And that can only be found in the eyes of a person because they are the gates to their soul. Look deep down within you and find the treasures that you hide and let the world see them!
