This article is anime related, I decided to post all kinds of topics related to the things that I am interested in.
So.. There was a lot of controversy in Naruto and one that really came to my attention was the character of Uchiha Itachi. Below, I will explain my theory and conclusion about this topic.
Uchiha Itachi is one of the most favorited characters on Naruto. From a very little boy, Itachi was really quiet, but observing. He lived at a distance from the others and was only observing them so that he can fully understand them. He was one of the best Konoha shinobi, by becoming the youngest Anbu member, at just the age of 11, and promoted to an Anbu captain at 13. As a member of the Uchiha clan, Itachi was considered to also be one of the strongest characters on the anime/manga, and of course as a true Uchiha – really troubled. But the question is: Is he really the person that Kishimoto showed us?
In the begging of Naruto, Itachi was portrayed to be the main badass on the series. It was showed that he killed his entire clan without any remorse (plus his best friend, so that he unlocked the Mangekyou Sharingan) and only spared the life on his little brother Sasuke (for some reason). Not only that but afterwards he joined the international criminal organization known as Akatsuki. In the main Naruto series, Itachi appeared for just a few episodes, but enough to be really seen as the villain that everyone claims him to be. Showing up to confront Naruto, but end up fighting Sasuke (and by fighting – he literally kicked his ass). Itachi was literally what they pictured him to be – a person who has no remorse, and it’s willing to kill anyone on his way.
Later on, in the Naruto Shippudden series, we see a totally different Itachi. One who is portrayed to be pushed to harm his family, although he didn’t want to do it, he just sought a peaceful resolution. Uchiha Itachi became the most controversial character on Naruto, with two extreme personalities. Until his death (which was the most tragic story about his life) and even long afterwards, Itachi became from the villain who massacred his entire clan, to the hero of the story. We even learned that he didn’t kill his best friend Shisui so that he activated his Mangekyou Sharingan, it was nothing like that. Shisui jumped off a cliff to save his clan, just like Itachi should have done?
Some big character development or a mistake? Shouldn’t Itachi have stayed the villain that he was made to be, and is the story of him being a hero, made-up by Kishimoto in the process of writing Naruto, but wasn’t originally planned? Probably we will never know and we can only just guess, but in any case, Itachi Uchiha will always be one of the most controversial and loved characters on Naruto.
